Why am I getting all these people who want to connect with me all of a sudden?
-
I never got people who wanted to connect with me in my Yahoo Mail a few days ago. Now suddenly I keep getting random people names who want to connect with me. I haven't done anything on Yahoo except Yahoo Answers. I have always been active with Y!A! but suddenly out of the blue I am getting all these people, like 20 people a day who want to connect with me in the mail. I haven't been responding to any. What's going on?

Answer:
You can thank Yahoo for this latest SNAFU---but last I heard, they aren't going to do anything about it. It's up to you to fix it in your Pulse settings. One suggestion I found---from the Yahoo Answer Team---which seems to be working to stop it is>>>>> Mouse over your Hi Name (top left), and click on "Profile" to open your Pulse page. On that page click on "settings" (top right). Scroll to "Notifications" and click on "manage email notifications". Then check the "NO boxes on the Invites". (all of them). Click "Done". *****************

Many users have reported the same problem, it seems to be a new way of spamming, where once you accept the connection, the user posts the link to a pornography site. Be very careful, since such websites have been known to plant all sorts of malware on your harddrive! What you can do is this: 1: Go to "My Activity" at the top of this page, click "Edit My Preferences" -> click "Privacy and Communication". Scroll down and click "don't share my updates", hit submit. 2: On the mail screen click "options", at the top of the list unmark "enable updates", click "save changes" at the upper left. That may not stop all requests immediately, but it will slow them down considerably!
