Why can't I send SMS messages with messenger but when I log into Yahoo Mail I have no problems?

In Yahoo mail I can sign into chat and send SMS messages. When I'm not signed into chat in Yahoo mail I can't send SMS messages using Yahoo Messenger. I keep getting an error saying "Yahoo! Messenger cannot send SMS messages to this mobile number". I'm confused...Yahoo mail allows me to send SMS messages to a number but Yahoo Messenger won't let me send SMS to the same number.

It may be that your Contact must also have a Wireless Carrier supported by Yahoo. Please see this list: http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?y=PROD_MSNG_MSNG10&page=content&id=DOC776
