How do I shut down Yahoo messenger completely?

Why is my yahoo messenger sending an error report and shut down after signing in? After 9 weeks its ridicules?

my yahoo mail works fine but my messenger is a LOST CAUSE for a little over 9 weeks now i cant get on my messenger. Right after i sign in, and it shows my contacts, and who is online, an ERROR report pops up and says, yahoo messenger has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. I dont know what to do it was working just fine for the first week or two, then after that nothing but problems, complication, and aggravation. I have tried everything i can think of. like checking compatibility, viruses, and trying to download msgr8. But that sends me an error report when i click on the icon on the desktop to finish downloading. I have about 38 people who try to contact me but they cant,!! we are all thinking of switching to MYSPACE if we cant fix the problem this week. Please help we like and want to stay with yahoo but business is business. I am at the end of my rope and giving up. Thank you for being here. Yahoo. Yahoo member and user BillY G.

install flash first .... it could be that ,,,, http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/triggerpages_mmcom/yflash.html .. this page tells you how .... also hold down control just incase something like a pop up blocker is doing it .... if that fails go to http://www.freecreed.com and follow the uninstall page and try a previous older version

You should un-install Messenger and do a clean re-install. The un-install is important; it removes any corrupt files that an install alone might not fix. Click the "Start" button, click "Control Panel", and open "Add/Remove Programs". Scroll down to "Yahoo! Messenger" and remove it. (If you can't find it, look for "Yahoo! Applications", "SBC Yahoo!" or any item in the list with the word "Yahoo!" in it.) To be super-safe, also restart your computer. Then install a fresh copy of the most recent version from http://messenger.yahoo.com

Hi, Are you using window blinds or alienguise or some other window enhancement program? Go back to Yahoo 7.0. That was the last version that actually completely worked for me. later versions don't work for MSN (anything over 7.0) or Yahoo.
