Can you help me fix my webcam error, please (Omega C11)?
-
I've just bought a new webcam, Omega C11. After I install the driver (Webcam videocap) I open it and i get the following error: "Cannot find VCapture:IAMStreamConfig". I've searched the internet and i can't find something helpful... Also, in My Computer, I have the usb device that's connected, named "USB 2.0 Webcam" and it works, I can see myself, but it does not work when I want to invite someone to view my webcam on Yahoo! Messenger, saying the classic "This person's webcam is not available." I did everything the manual said (it's too easy) but it still doesn't work... I use Microsoft Windows XP, Professional Version, 2002, Service Pack 3. Here are some more details: "Web Camera TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION - High Resolution CMOS Color Sensor - Resolution: 300K pixels (interpolated 5M) - Video Format: 24bit True Color - Interface: USB1.1/2.0 - Transmission Speed: 320x240 - 30frames/second 640x480 - 30frames/second 2560x1920 - 8frames/second - Imaging Distance: 5cm to infinity - Built-in Image Compression - Automatic White Balance - Automatic Color Compensation - Manual Focusing - Manual Snapshot - Drivers for: WIN 2000/XP/VISTA System Please, at least try and help me. Thank you very much. P.S.: I've tried to install the driver from the original site, it doesn't work properly. If you can't find anything about the webcam, can you at least help me fix my error, please?

Answer:
If the webcam is working on your computer all you need to do is configure it to Yahoo Messenger. 1) Test the operation of your webcam here - Click 'Allow' in the top window and your image should be seen in the left hand box. http://www.testmycam.com/ Do not move on until it can be seen to work here. Check your drivers etc. 2) Check the Microsoft DirectX software loaded on your computer is up to date and not showing any problems. It comes loaded on most Windows computers but needs updating from time to time. I have Version 11 but its probably not the latest. Hold down the 'Windows key' (Bottom row with flag) and press the 'R' key. Type in..... dxdiag ..... and click OK Check your version under the 'System' tab and then run through all the other headers checking the 'notes' box for faults. To finish click 'Exit" 3) Plug your webcam in - if its already plugged in disconnect the webcam for a few seconds to re-boot the software. Its not unusual for webcam software to remain hooked up to a previous program even if you did exit it correctly. If the webcam is built in you can disable and then enable it from the Device Manager. Expand the Imaging folder and right click on the webcam text for the options. 4) Yahoo Messenger Internet Connection. From your Contact List, Left click ( > ) Messenger above your avatar > Preferences > Connection Select the option to connect direct to the Internet make sure the 2 lower boxes are displaying the correct information. Any changes made to this page have to be saved > Apply > OK 5) Configure webcam Contact List, > Messenger > My Webcam > OK - The webcam should now be running. On the top frame of the image is an additional menu - where you can set the image size and check statistics under 'Webcam.'Another useful setting here is 'Always on top' which places the image on top of the desktop and prevents it disappearing below the page everytime you chat. 6) Set the Camera source You need to do this to allow Messenger to find the camera when required. With camera still running go back to Contact List > Messenger > Preferences > Webcam broadcast (Versions 10 / 11 ) > Source :- Set the webcam you intend to use as default by displaying it in the dropbox > OK. Make a note of any other options in the dropbox as you may need to uninstall redundant software if you get a conflict. Save changes and exit Source by > OK The 'Settings' menu can be used to fine trim the picture and change mirror images etc. Make your selections here for all the people you are going to allow to view your webcam > Apply > OK to any changes. Re- boot the webcam software 7) Set up Audio Contact List > Messenger > Preferences > Video and Voice ( Version 10/11 ) Check the default equipment are all shown correctly > 'Open Video and Voice set up' Check mic and speakers are working and Yahoo can find and start your webcam automatically. Use 'Place a free Call ' to test the voice set up Check (tick) the box to allow USB devices to access Messenger. 8) Additional help for webcams http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?page=answers&startover=y&y=PROD_MSNG&question_box=webcam+troubleshooting 9) Yahoo Messenger 9 was the last version to have a webcam icon shortcut. Messenger 10 onwards the invitation is here > Actions > More Actions > Invite to view my Webcam
