Why won't my Yahoo instant messenger work?

  • I have had Yahoo messenger for several years now and I keep up to date with all the different versions as long as there is no conflict between the version of yahoo and my version of windows. Up until today I have had no problem getting into my instant messenger and talking to my contacts. The only way I can see my contacts is if I go on my messenger click on actions and send an instant message the only problem is when I select this nothing happens what could be causing this? Also I have had low virtual memory could this cause the problems with Yahoo messenger that I am having?

    Yes, low virtual memory can cause problems in Messenger - I had to increase mine to improve webcam function You can increase your memory by going to Start > Control Panel > System > Advance tab > Performance >Advance tab > Virtual memory, change it, make it 1500 kb or higher, In both boxes, > Apply > OK Make a note of any changes you make - in case you run into problems elsewhere - my VM is currently set to 2337MB .
