My yahoo messenger wont let me log in?

here's the thing. i had to reload my mac (different story). before that yahoo always worked for me. i downloaded yahoo messenger, as always. now for some reason it wont let me log in, but when i log into my yahoo account to check my email. it works just fine. the question is why is it having this problem now? and is there a way to fix it?
