Why isnt my yahoo messenger working ??

ok so i bought a macbook ..i downloaded yahoo messenger and it was working fine ...so i try to log in and it lets me ..but it doesnt let me see the list or anything ...it just keeps loading people say that i have to delete my cookies ...and if thats true how do i delete them .....if u can help me plzzzz i would really really appreciate it....plz & thank u
