How To Find Proxies?

In yahoo messenger, how do I find out the "server name", in order to set it to "use proxies" to log on?

  • I just downloaded yahoo messenger 9.1 and it won't even let me log in anymore! I use windows XP and I have not changed any of my settings. I have never had problems with this ever before. I saw on a forum about the new messenger, that someone said they could only log on by setting connection settings to "use proxies", but I don't know what to put after I hasve selected "use proxies"? Does anyone know how to do this? I just talked to my internet provider and they say they can't give me that information because they do not support the messenger. WTF? This is so frustrating because I tried to use the old version of yahoo until they fix the bugs in 9.1, and THAT won't even work. Well, thanks in advance!

  • Answer:

I am using Yahoo Messenger 9.0.0.907 without a proxy. I didn't use a proxy under V 8.1. Typically, proxies are required in a business where your computer is in its own domain connected to a server behind a firewall, i.e., you don't need a proxy. I am bothered why you can't signon with V 8.1 again (after using V 9). You could try turning off your firewall, but I suspect something else is going on and I'm not sure how to fix your problem.
