Can you help w/ INstant Messenger??? ?

I have downloaded the new version Of Yahoo Instant Messenger.. 9,, and I have downloaded and reloaded it... I am missing two bars at the top of the screen.. where it says contacts etc.. and above that where You can exit out.. can anyone help me?? How can I get this,,?? I have even try to go back to an older version of IM,, and I can not find anything available for me.. Any advice?

Are you downloading it on a PC or a Mac? That info would really help figure the prob out because I had a similar problem that I just fixed but it was on a MacBook.
