Does my messenger account die when I cancel my Yahoo mail account?

  • about 6 months ago, I set up a yahoo email account. I then set up a messenger account about a month later. A few months later, I cancelled my yahoo mail account and set up another one - basically got a new yahoo email address. My question is... did cancelling my old email account cancel my messenger account also? Or is there a way that I can access the old messenger account, and change the details to align with my new yahoo address? Any assistance greatly appreciated. Cheers, Roger

    Yes, if you cancel your Yahoo! account, from whatever service, the whole account will be affected and deactivated. So, if you cancel your mail, all of the Y! services with that account including setting, connections, downloads, address book, and everything related to it will be removed.

Cheers! Roger. If you went through yahoo and confirmed deletion on your yahoo account, more likely its all gone, even messenger. To ease your mind a bit more, the best way to find out is to try and log into your old id through messenger, hopefully you remembered your password.
