What happens when you report someone as spam on your messenger?

• when i log into yahoo messenger sometimes i get a auto matic instant message from someone i dont know .if i ask them where did they get my email they normally dont have a response. this has happened about 30 to 40 times i think .i have had my email addres for more then 4 years i think. i thought if i change my pass code it would stop so i have changed it about 10 times in the last 2 months. can someone tell me whats happening and how to stop it. plus i ignore them and report them as spam. yall are welcome to forward this because i know this happens to others but im just asking cause i dont know the solution. im [email protected] God Bless You

  I have no idea how to stop it, as I have the annoying problem myself. What I have gathered is this: It is a glitch on yahoo's end. When I sign into my messanger, I start getting i.m.'s from total strangers, half are from Pakistan (that's what I've been told). Upon asking them how they got my screen name, I learned that when I sign on, it shows many random people the pop up (that you get in the bottom right hand corner) when your buddy signs on or off. Somehow I am showing up as a pop up, as if I was on their buddy list, in the bottom of their screen. They all assume I must be someone they met long ago and added to their list, and then send me a message. I'm not sure if this is the same thing that happens to you. I came to Yahoo Answers looking for help as well, when I read your post. It is aggrivating; I get close to 100 i.m.'s a day sometimes, all asking "ASL" ...and I too reported many of them until I realized they weren't hackers or bots, but real people. I ask if anyone out there knows how to fix this, please let me (us) know. *I have gone into my preferences and made sure everything shows me as logging in private.....or surfing the web private etc. Yes I still get i.m.'s when I am invisible (from those on my buddy list).
