How do I get Yahoo Messenger version 9 to accept my password? The password works with all other Yahoo accounts?
-
I have worked with Yahoo Help on line chat customer service personnel and have the very latest version of YM 9 installed. I have even tried changing my password, no help.

Answer:
SIGN-IN PROBLEMS WITH YAHOO MESSENGER If this is the first time that you have had the problem first try exiting Y!M by right clicking the Yahoo! icon by your clock and choosing exit. Then relaunch Y!M and try again. If you still have problems reboot your computer. Some of these issues just work themselves out after a certain amount of time but if you have tried rebooting and you do not want to wait then read below. PLEASE CHECK 1. First if you are using a firewall make sure you are using Yahoo Messenger 9.0 or it probably will not work. Read more about this here: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger9/messenger/ms9tafirewallupgrade.html;_ylt=Au2Jc0mQJ6Xw3m9abgScl3uQLCV4 2. If you do not have the latest version of Yahoo Messenger then be sure to update it here: Full Installer for Yahoo Messenger 9.0.0.2162 http://download.yimg.com/ycs/msg/dl/msgr9/us/ymsgr900_2162_us.exe This latest update to 9.0 fixes some sign-in issues some Vista users were having. 3. There also appears to be a conflict between SpeedBit Video Accelerator and Yahoo Messenger. Read more here about that issue: http://www.ymessengerblog.com/blog/2009/02/04/fyi-yahoo-messenger-90-and-speedbit-software-conflict/ TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS FOR SIGN IN PROBLEMS Yahoo has developed a series of Troubleshooting steps to follow if you are having difficulties Signing into Yahoo Messenger. Follow each on of them on this link and the last step will give you the link to contact Yahoo! if you are still having problems: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger9/messenger/ms9tasignintips.html;_ylt=ApDjjtsReA3QD5KXyYGjzNeQLCV4 ALTERNATIVES Until you get it sorted try using Yahoo! Messenger for the Web or the new chat feature of Yahoo! Mail. Just be sure to sign out of the chat in Yahoo! Mail and Yahoo! Messenger for the Web before you try to sign into the full version of Yahoo! Messenger. Yahoo Messenger for the Web: http://webmessenger.yahoo.com/ Yahoo Classic Mail Chat: http://help.yahoo.com/tutorials/mmail/mmail/mm_chat1.html All New Yahoo Mail Chat: http://help.yahoo.com/tutorials/cg/mail/cg_chat1.html ============ If that does not work then I would do a complete uninstall of Yahoo Messenger. Often when people update to a new version of Yahoo Messenger they do not do a complete clean uninstall. This can cause problems later. COMPLETE UNINSTALL OF YAHOO MESSENGER 1. PLEASE NOTE that doing a clean uninstall of Yahoo Messenger will erase your message archives so read here about how to copy them http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger8/messenger/mstacopyarchive.html Important: Do not put the archives back in until you are sure you can connect with the new download and installation and when you are sure Yahoo Messenger is working properly. 2. First uninstall Yahoo! Messenger through add/remove programs in the Control Panel. Vista users please read this for how to uninstall Yahoo Messenger, skip the part for now about reinstalling, I will go over that below. http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger9/messenger/mstawreinstallvista.html;_ylt=AihrflFQxjzZeBTCSuhkKKWQLCV4 3. If you want to do a total clean uninstall of Yahoo Messenger then also navigate to Program Files on your hard drive and delete the Messenger folder inside of the Yahoo Folder. Follow this path (XP): My Computer>>C: drive>>Program Files>>Yahoo>>Messenger. Reboot your computer (important!). 4. If you have a trusted registry scanner use it now. If you do not have a trusted registry scanner that you are familiar with than SKIP this step because you can screw your computer up if you do not know what you are doing. I personally use CCleaner but then I have been using it for years and know how to use the Registry scanner portion safely. Using any of these types of programs is USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Make sure you know how to create a system restore point and use the built in backup feature to backup any of the Registry files it changes. Computer novices should definitely skip this step. 5. It is important that now you reboot your computer. Now download and install Yahoo messenger again using the following link: Full Installer for Yahoo Messenger 9.0.0.2162 http://download.yimg.com/ycs/msg/dl/msgr9/us/ymsgr900_2162_us.exe Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 runs on Windows 2000, XP, and Vista, (maybe Windows 7 too).

i can only recommend you to uninstall that messenger properly, delete folders and subfolders that contain about YM, delete your cookies, temporary internet files, browsing history. restart computer and reinstall the messenger. i guess this will be ok this time, though i won't guarantee. just try.
