What's wrong with my yahoo messenger?

  • For some reason I cannot log on to yahoo messenger. Whenever I try to, the smiley icon immediately goes back to sleep. Any suggestions?

    problem of server perhaps. try to restart your computer. wait until the PC loads everything before clicking the yahoo messenger icon again. once done, try to sign in and see if you will be connected. (be sure your connection is doing properly). if this problem persists, try to shut down your PC and wait for a couple of minutes before starting it again. then open the messenger and log in. if all of these doesn't help, now time for you to uninstall the messenger and reinstall a new one. but before doing so, try all the options as you can before deciding to uninstall the messenger.

I suggest you Do this,,,, Click on Start Button/ Settings/ Control Panel/ Add or Remove Programs. DUMP anything that says Yahoo Messenger (toolbar, address book etc etc etc) they will be listed at the bottom of that window if there are any), and go to this website,,,,, http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=... and type in Yahoo Messenger (at the bottom of the page in the Google search bar, make sure the dot is in the www.oldversion.com, hit Search (MY suggestion download 7.0) click on the first link under the Web results (it will take you to the Older Version site, scroll down and you can see where you can pick which one YOU want from the 3.0 version to the 8.0 version). BE SAFE Cheri PS. Stay away from the 9.0 version it still has bugs being worked out, and like I suggested, the 7.0 is the most stable. And no you will NOT lose any Contacts from a previous version you ran, they are all saved on Yahoos Sever and will transfer to whatever version you install.

Reinstall the messenger, that's the only way i got mine to work again.
