How do you change the ID name for yahoo messenger?

  • the log on for yahoo messenger= yahoo email, is not the same as the name that is shown on the yahoo buddy list. I changed the first and last name on yahoo mail but it didn't change on yahoo messenger.

    Try this.. On your yahoo messenger click on "Messenger" "My contact details" In the "Nickname" field write whatever new nickname you want. This name will appear on your messenger instead of your Id and others will be able to c it too. Next step: On your yahoo messenger, click on "Messenger". Then, "Appearence" Check the "Nickname or First and theLast name" Click "OK"

ok dude here is what i found.... thanks to (GAD&OCD_Girl) on yahoo answers. which is where this info came from. just passing it on, hope it helps man :) On your My Yahoo page at the top it will have welcome(your name) underneath in blue it says My Account click on it and then on the right hand side of the page it says Public Information: Public Profiles and it has a list of the different names you have created underneath it click on Edit/Create Profiles then click Create New Public Profile then fill out the info. After you're done click Make Default on the right hand side of the screen and that is the name it will show for you. You can make alot of different names for different things. If you want to delete a name just click the blue delete next to the name.

I'm really not sure of your question. I you want to change a contact's name right click on their icon, scroll to contact details, make your changes and save. To change your own:Click messenger top left in the messenger window. scroll down and click my contact details. make your changes, click save and close.
