How to find my Yahoo Groups on homepage?

Having problems with our yahoo groups' members' properties for participation?

  • Ok, here's the problem. We have members in our yahoo group who, for some reason, can -only- get their posted messages and replys via email. When we ask them to come right to the yahoo group homepage site, they say that they can see the page, but the link for 'messages' is not available to them. In other words, they cannot post or receive messages while at the groups homepage site. Sometimes other amenities in the left-hand navigation box are not available to them, but mostly, they cannot access the 'messages' or 'post' bars, and cannot post or reply while at the homepage site. We have done everything we could find in the 'management' section, including, but not limited to, changing their membership properties, and asking them the inconvenience of subscribing and re-subscribing. Doesn't work, same thing keeps happening. We cannot figure out 'why' our members can only receive their posted message via email and not thru visiting the groups' homepage site. This is extremely vexing, and frustrating for both, us (the moderators/owners), and the members. What can be done to fix this problem? Thanks, Rik

  • Answer:

the settings that might prohibit this is management- under group settings click messages- Posting and Archives (Edit) <-- click the edit- under Who can post = members- under Archive Options = members another thing that would effect this is those who do not have a yahoo ID, or joined via the e-mail subscribe or were added members. members need a yahoo ID and link it to their membership in order to have full access to web features of the group. one would wonder if that wasn't the case since those members can only post and receive from e-mail. while in the members list, if under the column Yahoo ID doesn't list an ID, and to the left under Member is bold black- those members can not access the group. they are e-mail only members

Rik Fox, - Go to your Group's web page - Click Members - Find a member who is having the problem you describe - Click on the Request Profile button Alternatively you can sort your membership by clicking on Yahoo! ID button so that all those that show the Request Profile button are at the top. Now you can easily click them all one by one. http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/groups/original/ownmod/inviting/inviting-08.html "Request a profile: This is for email-only members who don’t use a Yahoo! email address. By clicking Request a profile in the Yahoo! ID column, you ask a member to include their profile in the group. This gives them access to the group's web features":
