How do I change the Description & Appearance of my Yahoo! Group?
-
I am a moderator (not the owner) for a Yahoo! Group. I basically do all the approving of new members, etc, since the owner of the group and the other moderators never do anything. There are some things that need to be updated on the description of the Yahoo! Group. I was wondering how I, as a moderator, can change the Description & Appearance? Thanks ;)!

Answer:
It depends whether the owner gave you the appropriate privileges to do this. Go to the Yahoo Group's web site. If you have the appropriate privileges, you'll see Management among the links on the left-hand side of the page. Click on this Management link. Then click on Description & Appearance under Group Settings. From there, you can go several directions. (1) Click the Edit link next to Description to change the Description of the Group (which appears on the Group's home page). Then edit the text in the large Description box. Don't forget to click the Save Changes button when you're done. (2) Click the Edit link under Colors And Photo (near the lower-left-hand corner of the page) to change the Group's color pattern that appears on every Group page. Select whichever one of the several color patterns you want for the Group (if you choose the Custom pattern at the bottom, you can change it by clicking the Edit link next to Custom, then selecting your preferred color for each of the categories listed on the next page, then clicking the Save Changes button). Don't forget to click the Save Changes button after you've selected your color pattern. (3) Click the Edit link next to Photo (near the lower-right-hand corner of the page) to change the Group's photo that appears on its home page. Follow the directions on the resulting page. Don't forget to click the Add Now button when you're done. If you can't follow the directions in my first paragraph above, then you can't change the Group's settings at the present time. Your only hope would be to e-mail the owner of the Group asking him/her to give you the privilege to Change Group Settings.

maybe as a moderator, that's your job to approve those things. to check what your moderator privileges are, go to homepage, click memebrs list- click moderators tab- under your ID click edit membership- scroll down to bottom green you can, red you cant. if you don't see the word "edit", means you cant do it and probably that you're a mod, you should ask before you go changing the groups description. What’s the group description? http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/groups/original/ownmod/starting/starting-06.html This is where you to provide a detailed description of your group, up to 2000 characters long. To write one or change it, click Edit next to "Description" on your home page, then click Edit again on the next page, next to "Description".
