How do I use yahoo?

How can I use Yahoo's Address Guard in conjunction with Yahoo Answers and Yahoo Groups?

  • I paid good money to have a Yahoo Mail Plus account, and a major reason that I did so was for the ability to use Yahoo Address Guard. Funny, though, other Yahoo products, such as Yahoo Answers or Yahoo Groups, don't recognize their own guarded or "disposable" addresses. I would like to join many of the Groups on Yahoo, and yet, I refuse to give these groups my "primary" (or hidden) address, for the express reason that some groups tend to send too many mails, some members end up spamming or sending chain letters, etc., and some groups refuse to take you off of their lists when you try to unsubscribe. It's a Yahoo Group to me, but apparently, it's a cult to some others out there, go figure. I requested help from Yahoo by sending a letter, but I have yet to receive any response. Does anyone know how (or if it is possible) to use Address Guard for such purposes? Thank you very much!

  • Answer:

Yahoo! Addressguard allows you to create disposable addresses. These can be used for Yahoo! Groups as well. When signin up for a Yahoo! Group you are asked what email address you wish to send the emails to. Just add the disposable address that you created. Then, you can create a filter in your inbox so that any/all emails that go to the specific disposable address all go to 1 folder.
