How can I hide email addresses in group email?

How can I as a MODERATOR LET group MEMBERS HIDE their email addresses?

• I understand that moderators, for cases of emergency, should be able to check out group members email addresses (the members themselves have the chance to use addresses that don't expose real life private details). But what about the group members vs. co-members and other users? I'm just about to make my initial moderating experiences. One is what I found in the left column's lower box under the "Settings" tag: "Members cannot hide email address" This reads like a quite displeasing circumstance keeping users who worry for their privacy from joining. How can I change this (and am I then still able to check out their addresses)?

  if you're a moderator, not the group owner, that's a group setting and it has draw backs. as a moderator you may not have the privilege to change that setting. * That setting IS NOT reversible * you loose the polls feature for good * each member has to select this, by going to edit membership; mods cant select this for members * every member who selects this then must post from the group itself, not their own mail provider * posts to in coming all will be [email protected], making it difficult to track each member * on the group the members Yahoo ID still shows (no e-mail addy shows) * if the owner ends up with a member violating rules or Yahoo TOS, you wont have the info needed to report them if you are the owner and still want to do this, it's in management under memberships. if you're worried about members worrying about privacy, most do not.
