How can I stop getting invitation emails from Yahoo! porn groups?
-
I keep getting emails from various Yahoo! porn groups saying "Please confirm your request to join..." such groups as, for example, 'sexy, hottie webcam babes who do it all.' I NEVER requested to join any of these porn groups, yet different ones keep sending these emails. It's embarrassing when I log-in and people can look over my shoulder and they think I'm doing stuff I'm not doing! PLEASE HELP! How can I shut these guys off?

Answer:
those smut groups have been working over time with invites. of course you didn't give your e-mail address, however addresses become exposed during many things we do online and that's where they get it from. use an alias whenever possible. below is how to prevent it, along with the abuse form. if you send the abuse form and report it, include the mal header; Yahoo will delete the group for TOS violation and in fact the invite feature has been changed due to these group owners. more than likely you'll get no reply from Yahoo other than an auto reply however when I've reported these invites when I've gotten them, I did get a general reply and I kept the invite and clicked to view the group; it was deleted. How can I prevent moderators from adding me to their groups or sending me invitations? http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/groups/original/members/email/email-44.html?terms=prevent+adds abuse form http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/groups/original/members/forms/abuse.html;_ylt=AhXX.KHPMNkKINl0AVTzUFsACXdG?from_url=http%3A%2F%2Fhelp.yahoo.com%2Fl%2Fus%2Fyahoo%2Fgroups%2Foriginal%2Fmembers%2Findex.html

Me too! And regardless of what that other guy said I did not go to any disgusting sites. I don't know if someone else did but I intend to find out. Other than that, I sure hope someone has an answer because I want it to STOP regardless of what may have caused it. I contacted Yahoo customer service and they say....yeah i know....that they will respond. If a miracle happens and they do, I'll let you know. UPDATE....UPDATE....The nice guy from Groups Customer Care sent me at response!! I can only do the Email preference change cuz have no confirmation email to delete but at least it's something. Here ya go and here's hoping...... I understand you are receiving emails to confirm your request to join a Yahoo! group. I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. You are receiving these messages because someone has sent a settings change request that appeared to come from your email address. If you didn't actually send this request for a settings change, simply delete the confirmation email/error message. The confirmation message is the way we prevent these abusers from changing your settings without your knowledge. For additional information on ways to protect your information online, please visit the Yahoo! Security Center at: http://security.yahoo.com Moreover, I found that your email options for the email address "[email protected]" is set to "Allow Direct Adds - Allow Invites." To prevent/allow moderators to invite/directly add you to their groups: - Go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/mygroups - Click on "Go to My Email Preferences" at the top of the page. - Under the "Options" column, click on the "Edit" link for any of the verified email addresses listed. - After clicking on "Edit" link, check/uncheck the box(es) in front of "Allow group moderators to directly add me to their groups" and/or "Allow group moderators to invite me to their groups." - Click "Save Changes." Please note: You will not see the above options for non-Yahoo! email addresses. If the email address added to the group was not a Yahoo! email account you will need to first add the email address as an alternate email address to your Yahoo! account. You can do so by using our membership wizard: http://edit.yahoo.com/commchannel/manage The wizard will walk you through all necessary steps to complete this process. For security purposes, you will always be asked to verify your password in order to edit your information. Please contact us again if you have any further questions or concerns.
