Why am I not getting the e-mails posted in my group?

Yahoo group recieving spoofed emails?

  • I'm on a Yahoo! Group where one member's email address is getting spoofed (we believe) and then the emails from that "account", which are obnoxious spam, are getting posted and distributed to the group. 1) Is it likely for a simple spoofed "From" line will get through Yahoo Groups filter that would otherwise prevent non-member outsiders from emailing the group? and more importantly: 2)Is there any setting or solution that can be used to stop the problem? (other than having the member open a new yahoo email account so that the old one can be banned.) Thanks in advance.

  • Answer:

either the member has a compromised account or they have a virus. that member has to change their password and/ or scan for viruses. the owner can moderate that member and delete the spam posts coming in, or set them to not being about to post. locate said member is members list- click edit membership below their ID- Posting Messages: Override: This member's posts are always moderated (Edit) <-- click the edit next page choose either * Messages posted by this member are not moderated. * Messages posted by this member are moderated. * This member cant post click save changes

nope

You could put that member on moderation then when a spam comes through delete it, approve the good posts.. You find the member your membership list. Click edit membership under their name or i.d. scroll down beside posting messages click edit . In the next window check messages posted by this member are moderated click save changes.
