Whereas at Yahoo Answers it is very easy to switch from category to category and no one is in charge of a particular section, Yahoo Groups are created by individuals who are then considered to own the Group. These "owners" can decide who joins their Group as a member, and who is allowed to post messages that get sent to all members of the Group. Most Group Owners frown on postings they consider to be off-topic to their Group. As opposed to Yahoo Answers, Yahoo Groups are conducive to dialogue with others.
