How do I delete the actual Yahoo group as moderator?

How do I delete an old Yahoo! group when my moderator account no longer exists?

  • Close to eight years ago now I created a Yahoo! group on a very old name, connected to an old email address that I no longer have. I guess I never deleted the group, but now I would like to. The problem is, I can't sign in on my old Yahoo! ID (I don't think it even exists at this point). I have tried emailing Yahoo! customer support but have not been able to explain my problem since it's only a form. Does anyone have any idea how this can be resolved? A fellow mod (not owner though) is able to get into the group but has not been able to delete it. Any help would be appreciated!

  • Answer:

Only you, as the owner, can delete the group. You can try to e-mail Yahoo customer care (not fill in the form)

Only a group owner can delete a group according to the YA help pages. I could not find an answer to your specific problem though. So I suggest to go to the link below which lists a couple of "groups about groups". One of those users might have a solution for your problem. there is really nothing you can do if you cant log onto your older account to gain access to that group. yahoo does not delete groups unless there is a TOS or abuse violation, and one day they may clean up ownerless groups, but they're not doing anything about it at the present time. the group will just sit there until clean=up time (whenever that is) sorry, not much at all you can do
