What exactly are the Yahoo! groups?

What happened to all the so-called 'Adult' groups on yahoo? No 'mature' groups any more.?

  • There used to be sex groups, and adult groups and swingers groups and now I can't find a single one in the yahoo groups... not even under the 'Adult' setting. Where did they all go? Did yahoo get rid of em?

  • Answer:

    The only reason I can see is that they were unable to adequately control the use of them by minors, therefore it was better to error on the side of caution and just get rid of them altogether. Who knows, they may come back if Yahoo! figures-out a way to verify the age of someone using them.

Actually, all the adult groups are still here (I know coz I run one of them!) but Yahoo removed the ability to search for them! I know that's frustrating and makes them practically impossible to find unless you find a direct link to the group elsewhere but at least they didn't delete them. I guess it's kind of understandable that they wouldn't want them too easily accessible (to keep them away from kids) and hopefully one day they'll find a decent age verification system which will allow the search to return for verified adults.
