How do you add a member to your group?

How can I invite or add members to my group when there is no 'invite' on my member page?

• I am a moderator for the group. A few friends have asked me to add them to the group. To others I would like to send an invite. However on the left hand side of the member page there is no 'invite' link. This is a group created for a very specific purpose so the 'promote' link won't work for us. Thank you
