Why doesn't Yahoo delete spam?

Yahoo group overrun by spam messages and files. Can I delete en masse?

  • I was recently promoted to Owner of a Yahoo group. There are over 8000 messages, and dozens of Files, and nearly all of them are spam. I can delete messages in small groups (one page of 30 at a time), and I can delete files one at a time, but cleaning the group that way will take an unacceptably long time. Is there a way to select *all* the messages or files at once, then manually deselect the handful I know aren't spam? Alternately, is there a way to search the message subject headers for suspicious keywords, then delete all the resulting messages in one fell swoop? The search function seems to allow such searches, but deletion still appears to be limited to one message or topic at a time.
