Why do I get disconnected when I try to get on yahoo chat?

When I sign in on chat and wait to be connected, immediately everything disappears and the desktop pops up. What is wrong?

To access Chat from Yahoo! Messenger 7.5 or beta version 8.0, just go to the 'Messenger' drop down field and select 'Yahoo! Chat'. If you experience any problems throught this process, there is a Yahoo! Chat help section within the Yahoo! Messenger help pages located at http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger75/chat/index.html. Just go through the help pages offered in that section. If you cannot find the answer to your question, just click on the 'Contact Customer Care' button located at the bottom of any question/answer page, fill out the form that loads, and click on the 'Send' button to escalate to the Yahoo! Messenger customer care team.

There's no more chat. Yahoo wants everyone to use Yahoo Messenger from now on. Make the switch.

Actually, there is still a Yahoo chat, but it's no longer java-based. They've gone back to just he original chat as it was back in the late 90's. NOTICE: END OF JAVA-BASED CHATTING To make chatting a better experience, Yahoo! Chat no longer supports Java-based chat software. You can still access chat rooms with Chat 2.0 software, but for best results use Yahoo! Messenger.. As for you disconnecting--it may depend on what your operating system is, if you have any spam filters or pop-up windows running, or the browser you are using. But, for the best experience chatting, you are better off using chat through your Yahoo Messenger.
