What's the biggest Freecycle group?

Can I start a new Yahoo Group Freecycle, if one for my city already exists?

  • I'm asking because the moderator of the current Freecycle group rarely updates the page. She will make an excuse, like "oh, not all offers/wants come through on my phone" I offered some things over 4 days ago and it's still pending. It seems like most people have left the group. Can I start a new group and list it as the county instead of the city?

    Yahoo has no rules concerning Freecycle. Anyone can create a group on whatever topic. Freecycle dot org might have an issue with it, but I doubt they can dictate to a social site like Yahoo.

If you start a new group without Freecycle 'permission' it won't be an official group, so it won't be linked to from the Freecycle main site etc You could try asking the moderator if you could become a moderator and help out Alternatively you could try contacting the main Freecycle contact (somewhere on the website) and ask if there's anything that can be done Realistically you can set up a group and it won't be challenged; Freecycle lost recent trademark lawsuits, so anyone can.
