Why can't I join a Yahoo! Group?

Why can't I join a Yahoo group? I have a profile, yet I'm asked for a new profile name. Then I get "oops!"?

  • "nothing to see here. Go back to your profile." Ok... then what? What am I supposed to do?

    I found a solution that worked for me: - Log into your Yahoo account and click on "My Account" at the top of the page. - On the right hand side, under "Public Information", click on "Edit/Create Aliases". - When the "Manage your Yahoo! identities" page comes up, click on "Add an alias". - Type in the name you want to be identified as in Yahoo Groups, and click on "save". It will create a new alias for you. - Now go back to the group you were trying to join and try again. This time you should get the option to select your newly created alias as your profile.

I finally got past that one - you have to go to member directory - pull up your profile, go to settings, then click on people connections - then click on one or both of the options given - then click save. The problem comes in that your basic information doesn't show your basic information in the group.

I am having the same problem as you. I have been trying to join a nursing group for 3 days now and I get the same message. Hopefully someone will respond with a useful answer.

I followed derekp's answer to the letter but still nothing. It won't let me use my @y7mail.com id as a profile, and no matter what other id name i then put i just get the "oops, nothing to see message". Is it too much to ask that a simple fool-proof page be available to join these groups, where there is no doubt about what you have to do, and what name or id you have to enter?

ok i got it.... had this response for a week yahoo can not help say it is a technical problem for all new members with ymail address...or other address ...i had to delete old ymail account re set up newe id profile in yahoo not with ymail ..just xxxx @yahoo.co.uk
