Has anyone been to the castle of Amboise in France.How was it?

Does anyone know the real name for hogwarts or is the castle fictional.?

  • The hogwarts castle that is used in the Harry Potter movies has got me curious as I have a love for castles, is there anyone out there that can tell me if the castle is real, if so where does it exist, and what is its proper name.

i watched the dvd special features for prisoner of azkaban and i believe the art directors built a model of the castle. the scenes of the courtyard etc. are filmed at oxford university in england.

The dining hall at Christ College, Oxford is used in the filming. When you go there is feels smaller than it looks on the big screen.
