How do postage stamps work?

How do postage stamps work, in Australia?

  • It has been ages since I last posted a letter, so I have a few questions: - If postage costs $2.00, do you put $2.00 worth of stamps on the envelope? - If postage & handling, costs $5.00, do I just include an extra $5.00 worth of stamps on the envelope, or do I have to include an extra $5.00 in the money order/cash? - Usually, how much is postage? Thanks

  • Answer:

Postage and packing is an amount of money added to the cost of the item It an item cost $50 and $5 postage and packing, you would pay $55. Write a letter, seal it in the envelope, take it to the post office to be weighed and they will tell you how much postage it needs. You say "it has been ages" but your post strongly suggests you have never posted a letter. It is something you simply never forget how to do
