What is the staff to child ratio in home day care in Western Australia?

  • I'm looking into opening a home day care and cant find any information on the staff to child ratio in WA, can anyone help?

  • Answer:

The Western Australian Child Care Services (Child Care) Regulations 2006 specify that if there are 5 or more enrolled children in attendance at a care session, the licensee must ensure that the children are supervised by at least 2 contact staff members, one of whom must — (a) have reached 18 years of age; and (b) be a class A, B or C contact staff member. At the broadest level the definitions of Class A, B and C contact staff include: class A a degree or diploma in early childhood care or early childhood education from a recognised Australian university or other tertiary institution class B (a) a 2 year certificate in child care studies; or (b) a diploma or associate diploma in child care; or class C (a) a registered mothercraft nurse; or (b) the holder of a mothercraft nursing qualification www.deewr.gov.au/EarlyChildhood/.../EA… Look up the Early Years Learning Framework www.deewr.gov.au/.../policy.../earlyyear… - Cached
