Can you help me buy stuff on ebay? 10 POINTS!!?
-
I know how to create an account... I have a card to use to purchase things... But, what I would like to know is, How does ebay know where to send your stuff? Does it take that information from your account, or can you specify a certain adress on each purchase (for example if you wanted it to be sent directly to your grandmothers house)? Also, if the baught goods are automatically sent to your address, What happens if you aren't home? Is the stuff just sent back to the seller? and If that is the case, Would you automatically lose your puchase? Do you need a permanent Post Office Box? Or is it an option to specify exactly what time you want your goods delivered? If you can answere all these questions you get 10 points!!

Answer:
When you buy an item off ebay the seller is supplied with your address. The address given to sellers is the one you stated in your account details, that's why is is important to update your address if you move. Seller can post items to a different address if you ask them to but most won't do this as they have no protection by paypal if they do not post to the address supplied to your paypal account. For example even if you receive an item to another address as requested ( like grandma's house) you could fraudulently claim item not received and paypal would refund you the buyer as seller could not prove item was sent to the address provided with paypal. Depending on the size of items and method of posting means the way you receive goods may vary. Smaller items may fit into your letterbox like normal mail, parcels may be delivered to your door and registered post will mean that you will have to go to your local post office to show ID and provide a signature to receive your item. Some (often large) items are sold as pick up only, meaning you drive to sellers house to pay cash and collect your items. I have bought and sold on ebay for many years and most things buy these days are posted in Aust. post satchels and are delivered to my door. If I'm not home they are left in a safe place on my veranda. It doesn't matter if you are not at home, I have never not received an item I have paid for. Just use your home address as some sellers will not post items to post office boxes, check this before you bid. There is no option to specify exactly what time you have your goods delivered as Australia Post and courier companies (if used by sellers) run to their own schedules. If any of this does not make sense or you need more questions answered, ebay has a forum called Answer Centre where very experienced Ebayers donate their time to answer any questions you may have. Next time you are on ebay click on site map then scroll down and click on Answer Centre. The Bidding and Buying section could help with your questions. As long as you are signed in you can ask any questions and will receive answers pretty quickly http://pages.ebay.com.au/community/answercentre/
