Nursing and civil engineering?

• hi guys： I am a VCE student, and going to uni next yr. I dont know what course should I peak. I like commerce, but the people around said its so hard to get a job when I finished uni. And then I choosed civil engineering, and also all my related family members said its not easy to find a job either. they want me to do nursing, because to find a job as a nurse is so easy. But what I concerned is I am a boy, i feel shame if i become a nurse, and all my classmate surprised after I told them Im goin to do nursing. my question is, is it ture it is hard to find a job if i finish civil engineering at uni? And how do u guys feel if u see a nurse is a male？ lastly, if one day i become a nurse, is it possible to start my own business? and what is the business about? and if i finished civil engineering at uni, can i also start my own business? Thank very much if anyone can give me a suggestion.

  If you do civil engineering or commerce with accountancy, you won't have any trouble finding work. Accountants and engineers are among the jobs most in demand all over Australia and the government is trying very hard to attract immigrants with those skills. Nurses are in demand as well of course, but it's a profession that you must only do if it's something you're really drawn to. Not everyone makes a good or even acceptable nurse and if you don't think it's for you, you shouldn't even consider it. Besides, the hours, conditions and pay are lousy. If nursing is something you'd really like to do, don't let the gender consideration turn you off. You would be amazed at how many male nurses there are these days and it's fast becoming accepted as a career for men. A civil engineer would have a better chance of having their own business, but you would need to get a lot of experience before considering it. The opportunities for having your own business as a nurse would be very limited - I can't think of any ATM. Your best bet for doing your own thing would be as a commerce graduate.
