What should I do for a summer job?

What can 12 and 13 yr olds do for a summer job? OTHER THAN detassalling and stuff like that.?

• me and my friend like tottally need a summer job. like we want to buy matching laptops. and we detassaled last year and stuff. but it just wasn't something that we want to go back to. i mean i want a summer job that pays good but we are too young to work in like subway or something like that. also we are small town girls, so there aren't any subways or stuff like that you know?. so yea. i don't know how old ya have to be to work at a store in like illinois or indiana or states like that. so like if you know of a summer job for a 13 or 12 year old please tell me. i'm like desprate for a job. and i already like babysit but i don't want to rely on that kind of stuff.   The two best jobs for young people to earn money are washing cars and mowing the grass. They are simple jobs and are easy to find customers. Ask your parents to tell their friends that you want some work. At your age tell people you want to work to save money and you will do other odd jobs and people will be happy to help you out. If they say no, be polite and say thankyou. Not everyone can afford to hire extra help. As for pricing, try between $5 and $10 for each job. If you try a price around $5 then ask for a tip if you do a good job. Cleaning a house is hard work but some people might like the help to springclean their house. It is great to see young people working for what you want.
