How To Know My House Number?

Sending a letter when you don't know the house number?

  • I know the street, and area and even the postcode just not the house number so will it get sent?

  • Answer:

Hi, If they are listed in the UK telephone directory you can use - http://www.thephonebook.bt.com/publisha.content/en/search/residential/search.publisha or - http://www.192.com/ to find the full address. Failing that the local postie will probably know which address to give it to but I do know of situations where at least two families in the same street have the same surname so it wouldn't be guaranteed to get there. There's a good chance it will get there. Binatone sent me a Sat Nav upgrade and left the house number off the address - and I have a VERY common surname (it isn't Vulpine!!!) and someone living next door but one has the same name. Post Office, 10/10...

Laird Vulpine

A name might help in this case, it will only get sent if you send it, it will get delivered because the P.O have skilled people who can and do work wonders on behalf of numpties like you..
