  • in the uk, how can you become a lifeguard, get it as a part-time job? What age can you become a lifeguard as i am 14 years of age! Thanks.

    You need to be at least 16 to train as a lifeguard but it's a really useful career because you can do it anywhere there's a pool. By the way i dunno if you fell asleep on the question mark symbol or something but there are 26 question marks there. Lily

Under 16s, however, CAN volunteer to be a part of the team and "learn the ropes". You need to hold and maintain a valid surf-lifesaving qualification, which are usually obtained via a commercial provider or through a volunteer lifesaving club AND be able to complete the following: 200m pool swim in under 3.5 minutes 400m pool swim in under 7.5 minutes 25m pool swim underwater and 25m surface swim consecutively in under 50 seconds. 200m beach run in under 40 seconds
