How Much Does A UK Work Permit Cost?

  • I am going to the UK to work for a UK based company and I was notified that I need to obtain a UK work permit. I was told it costs 625 Pounds, or about $900. Is this the cost of a work permit? How is it typically paid for by the permit applicant? Thank You.

If you are moving for work, then normally the employer would pay the Work Permit fee but this is not always the case. It sounds like you are outside the UK - so your fee would be GBP 400. This would be converted into local currency at your nearest visa application centre - a list of them is found here: http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/wheretoapply/ You'll also need to meet certain criteria (e.g. show you have sufficient funds to support yourself.) and I've included the relevant link for that below.
