How much can a starting teacher spend on rent?

Where is best to look for a flat to rent if I'm starting a job in Guildford, UK?

• I may be starting a new job in Guildford soon and need to know the best place to look for a place to rent. I don't mind a bit of a commute and ideally don't want to spend more than 700-800 pounds a month (700 would be best). Would also like a place to myself as its me and my girlfriend.

  Guildford?? i live about 20 minutes from there, it's like going back in time - the people are so weeeird i think it would probably be cheaper to rent somewhere actually in Guildford, the further into London you go the more expensive it is. i live near Kingston and Surbiton and it's really expensive unless you don't mind living in a box. you'd probably be best right in Guildford, or maybe just on the edge of London where it's really crap and dangerous. this probably hasn't helped at all, good luck.
