What kind of jobs can an uneducated 20 year old do in London?
-
Hello. I'am an average young man, who is looking for a work in London. Why London, you ask? That's because I have few friends in there, who can host me for short time. Also I'm interested in filmmaking and London would be the best city to get some experience. But to live in London, I need to have a job. I am planning to go there before or beggining of December. I don't have any special skills. I only attended short 2 week intense coarse in bartending/waitering. Also I have little knowledge about adobe photoshop, premiere and after effects. And I know quite a bit about computers. But I don't have any remarkable job experience. I worked little bit as an photo editor, but that's it. So I'm wondering what kind of jobs can I do in London? Wage I'm hoping to get is same as London minimum living wage. Anything that is below 7.5£ seems little bit risky to me. I am an EU citizen, so I don't have to apply for working licence. I think you already discovered that I am not good in English either, I can speak, understand and write in it, but not well. My parents are willing to support me, but that means I have about two weeks for finding a job, that pays me at least 7,5£. So what kind of jobs should I be looking for and how to apply for it?

Answer:
Unless you can get a job waiting tables where you make some tips you are not going to make £7.5/hour.

well realistically with no education/qualifications you don't have much chance to make it big. Especially with all the competition in London. If I was you I would do like security/bouncer/doorman they have decent wages, or Police(but they are not recruiting atm) or you can join the Military-Navy-Army-Air force, good money, Honorable job, accommodation, alot of other privileges, however be careful what you do in the Military. Other than that with no qualifications its very difficult to earn £7.5 an hour, I mean even for a MCDonalds crew member you need some GCSE's and they pay approx £$.5 an hour i think. I'd suggest you do a 1 yr GCSE course gaining the basic maths and english that would be a gateway for many jobs.

It's going to be very difficult to get a job with no education/qualifications. Why don’t you look for a work based learning course with work placements in your desired field of work? This will give you the chance to expand your knowledge and earn a wage.
