How to become a model for companies?

Should I trust seemingly legitimate modelling companies when they tell me that I can become a model?

  • I have been looking into getting onto the books of various modelling agencies through a reputable website. So far the feedback has been very positive, but I've suddenly become suspicious as many of the companies are interested. I do not typically fit the 'model' stereotype as a size 12-14. Should I take them up on their offers or it a case of too good to be true?

    Be very careful. There are a lot scams out there, and a lot of people will use the internet to trick hopefuls into all kinds of awful things. So before you choose a company to go with look into them more. Look at their website, call them, talk to other models who have heard from/worked with them. It's important to learn about them not only to protect yourself but to make sure you are choosing the best place to represent you if they are legitimate. Good luck!

If you are less than 5'8" and more than about 22-23 then hardly any of the mainstream agencies will look at you. However, there are many other smaller agencies who are legit who take on models outside of the "norm". check out http://www.albamodel.info/alist.php for a list of legit agencies.
