What are some good talent agencies in Toronto?

Has anyone ever head of CA Talent Agencies In Toronto?

  • I sent a demo to them for voice-over work. A gentleman from there called me and told me in no uncertain terms he wants to sign me. Then he advised me it would cost $225.00 to put me on something called "Breakdown Express" which he said would advertise my talent for possible clients for one year. My concern is that I read on greatvoice.com, which is supposed a premier resource for V/O talent that no legitimate agency needs money up front; real agencies get paid AFTER you get work. Has anyone worked with CA Talent, or can point me in the right direction? I don't have a lot of money, so $225.00 is a lot for me to just burn on another scam.

    While the statement that "GreatVoice.com is a premier VO resource" is highly debatable, they are correct in this regard. An a true agent only gets paid when you do. You should not need to shell out any money upfront. If you are looking for representation, VOX One is a reputable agency and, as such, difficult to get into. http://www.voxtalent.com/

Check with the ACTRA Toronto office - they will give you all the information you need to know about a particular agency They are on the ACTRA "no cheque" list http://www.actratoronto.com/perform/NOchequelist.html so find out why ACTRA refuses to send cheques to their members I would personally not use any agnecy that has not a member of the EIC, you can search agencies alphabetically http://www.actratoronto.com/perform/agents.html - they will list Voice under the agency name in the listing if they represent voice actors
