There is always the option of humane societies or animal rescue places, but you seem to want to know the parentage of the dogs as well. For this you might look into breeders, or even consider buying from individuals who have a good line of dogs, and know the history as well as having direct experience with the parents. (The latter would be my choice, because it has worked very well for me ) There is a web sales system that runs across Canada and will have a lot of advertised listings that will always include both individuals and breeders. It gives other references as well and could be a valuable resource: Kijiji.ca One very easy way to get right down to what you want to find is with a Google search and for this just go to the google search box and type in kijiji.ca retriever or kijiji.ca golden lab or kijiji.ca yellow lab Pick a different combination if you wish. If you just type in kijiji retriever it will give listings both inside and outside Canada, as kijiji is in USA as well.. I did this just now and got a long list of possibilities, including all of the above and it yielded a couple of golden retrievers that looked quite good.
