How to become a vet in Canada?

• I am almost ready to choose my collage But I want to know how my high school grades should be and what courses I should take, How long it will be once in university and specialties.

  To get into a vet school in Canada, you will need to complete your BSc degree first (which takes 4 years). You can apply to a vet school 3 years into your degree but you will still have to finish your BSc before you can be admitted. The DVM degree in Canada will take you 4 years to complete. So a total of 8 years. Vet schools in Canada are extremely competitive because you can only apply to the vet school within your region (University of saskatchewan - BC, Alberta, University of Guelph - Ontario, etc.) Personally, I opted to study in the UK (at the university of edinburgh) because they have direct entry veterinary programs which would take you 5 years to become a qualified veterinarian. In terms of grades and courses, you would probably want to get >80% (pretty much whatever you need to get into a bachelor of science course.) I didn't take any special courses when I applied for vet school. I'm from BC so for science courses I took Biology 12 and Chemistry 12. If you do consider to apply to the UK vet schools (and i'm sure that this would be helpful for canadian schools as well), they really value WORK EXPERIENCE.
