How to be a doctor or a family doctor in Canada?

Do you know why it's so hard to find a family doctor in Ontario, Canada?

• I think it's because the way the Ontario gov pays a family doctor compared to specialists. I am told that there is actually no shortage of family doctors in actual numbers. However many of them don't want to work as family doctors because it pays too little. They work instead in emergency rooms, hospitals, and cosmetic clinics. I was told a family doctor gets a miserly $30 from the gov for a visit regardless of what the visit is for. Out of that $30, they are supposed to pay for the office expenses, secretary, etc. This is a shame!

  $30 is pathetic. they haven't really increased fees to family doctors since 1969 when Canada's healthcare went public. that's about 40 years!!! to add insult to injury, you are not allowed to have a private track healthcare in Canada. So your family doctor is not allowed to accept any money from patients if a patient wants to pay for his services. I don't blame them for not wanting to work as a family doctor, or a slave for the socialist government of Ontario. There are only 2 services you are not legally allowed to pay for in Ontario: 1- prostitution, 2- medical services (cosmetic excluded). go figure.
