Are mystery shopper companies legit?

i signed up awhile back at least i have appeared to have done that and got a check for a substantial amount of money almost 3 grand, says to send money western union as my first assignment send all but 300 to a certain person so can this be real or fake, the check seems very very real the bank is real.

This is a complete and total scam...These fraudsters will use the name of a legit mystery shopping company and will send you this bogus check, which will most definitely bounce-leaving YOU to pick up the tab. Just do a google search for 'mystery shopping scam' and you'll be glad you burned that evil check. My father gets them all the time and likes to string those ***** along, getting their hopes up of cheating him out of almost $3,000. I'm not saying to do this...but it is a lot of fun =].

Burn that check now!!!!! It's a hoax. You deposit that bogus check into your account sending the balance in a new check to the person on the list. They cash your check and the one in our account bounces higher that a kite and you're out 2700 dollars. Burn that check now!!!
