Shpping Centre and a Shopping mall?

Whats the differents between a shopping centre and a mall , like in my cities (small city only 100,00) news paper said that our shopping centre could become a mall. didnt get that even the article said it was a mall. and like our mall is like a big building with stores(jewerly,clothes,ect,food court,zellers) is that a mall?
