How much does it take to start a cafe?

What will i be expected to do working in a cafe/chippy?

  • I am 16 and have just been offered a job in a chip shop which has a seating area so it's like a cafe, it's quite a popular chippy in the touristic part of where i live. There is a take away booth also. I was wondering what kind of jobs i will be expected to do, i never asked them because I am so desperate for a job so besides waiting on. I am very nervous although I have had two previous jobs but they weren't in cafe's they were in shops. Will the boss tell me what to do when I start or will I just be expected to no? I am very scared.

  • Answer:

Whenever I start working for a new employer I keep a small jar of poison with me just in case I need to correct them.

Im sure you will have some training, and you will probably get information on what you have to do, I wouldn't worry to much. The less nervous you are the better you will do. You will get the hang of it in no time. Good luck!

I'm assuming you've not got a food safety qualification, so you probably won't be doing a lot. Probably serving customers at the till, and handing food out to the customers. Yes the boss will tell you what to do and if you have any questions you should ask them. Good luck and remember to smile.
