What is the dress code for Gordon Ramsay at Claridges or Restaurant Gordon Ramsay?

I want to surprise my boyfriend for his birthday and take him to one of Gordon Ramsays restaurants for lunch (either Restaurant Gordon Ramsay or Claridges). However, I need some advice on what my boyfriend and I should, and should not wear. The website says 'Smart' and 'Gentlemen should wear jackets' Should he wear a suit? and what sort of thing should I wear? Bearing in mind it'll be October time and it's for lunch. Thanks for your help.
