Suggestions for a good restaurant in Ottawa for a Birthday Dinner?

That is a difficult question. As far as I can think, Ottawa doesn't have a lot of restaurants with great views. In the summer, I might suggest the Canal Ritz; you have a nice view of the canal and the park land, and I like the food there a lot. When I want a view in the winter, I go to Daly's at the Westin Hotel. Make a reservation well in advance of the date and ask for a window table. You'll have a nice cityscape view including lots of Christmas lights, assuming this is for the evening. Daly's is expensive. The food is wonderful, ... a little formal. The service is excellent. I'll be watching to see what other good ideas are offered.

those answers are lame... the thing about ottawa is that there isn't really a specatcular view (anymore, merlot was the revolving restaurant on the mariott downtown which is now banquet space) Instead of looking for somewhere that could be in a mall in toronto (rainforest cafe) focus on where you can take your sexy lady to a delciious dinner... and good wine... try Play (a tappas bar on sussex) or town (elgin, one of the best rated restaus in ottawa, and simply delicious) something like juniper in westboro, or the wellington gastropub, or even murray street kitchen will get you in her pants for sure. just doing something that is nice, and different is a sweet bday present... and for god sakes dress nice!!!
