Installing a iPod player in a car?

How can i switch my car cd player to an ipod player?

  • my cd player wont read cds anymore, is there a way i can set up my system so i can still hear the radio or have the songs on my ipod play in the car? (i realize this may cost a few bucks, any idea how much?)

  • Answer:

well they have that device which sends your radio fm signals from your ipod so you can listen over the radio station, it usually costs around 50 bucks. i bought one last year, but to be honest with you the sound is really bad compared to cd's, you have to worry about interference and find a clear channel on the radio, which if you live in any city will find difficult.. this one has got good reviews http://blog.tmcnet.com/blog/tom-keating/gadgets/roadtrip-fm-transmitter-ipod-charger.asp really though its time to buy a new in dash player.. buy one with an AUX in plug where you can just plug in your ipod with an audio cable from the earphone slot to the player.. good luck man!!

Buy a CD player with an auxiliary input jack, and a connection cable with a male stereo plug at each end that will plug into the headphone jack & the aux input jack. Play the iPod through the CD player via the cable, adjusting the iPod output volume to around 50-65%. Plus you can use the CD player to play discs, radio, etc. Cost depends on the quality of the CD player & cable.

It's usually not too hard to do. If you give me the make and model of your cd player I can look into it a little farther. If it is a pioneer brand you can by an input plug that plugs into the back of your headunit, then you need an adapter from miniplug to RCA, to plug your ipod into.
